Diamond Mine-nut
Easter Egg

Diamond Mine-nut

Fusible: yes Since V3.3
A crystalline fusion of Wall-nut and Potato Mine that functions as both a defensive wall and a pressure-triggered explosive, detonating for massive damage when a zombie bites through its outer shell.

Details
Functions as a 2500-toughness wall. When toughness reaches zero, automatically detonates a 500-damage explosion in a 3x3 area around its tile before destruction. The explosion counts as a mine detonation and can trigger mine-synergy effects from other plants.
Diamond Mine-nut combines the wall function of Wall-nut with a detonation payload that fires automatically when the wall toughness reaches zero. At 2500 toughness it holds for a long time, and when it finally breaks, the 500-damage 3x3 explosion punishes the zombies responsible. Place it in column 1 or 2 to absorb the full brunt of zombie waves while setting up a punishing detonation for the inevitable breach. In Survival Mode, a lane of Diamond Mine-nuts resets itself each detonation cycle by blasting the zombie cluster that breached it. Pair with Aqua Aloe for toughness restoration that extends each Mine-nut lifespan, effectively reducing the detonation frequency and keeping your midfield intact longer. In Endless Mode, Diamond Mine-nut is a premium defensive anchor that justifies its 175 Sun cost by delivering both wall duration and burst clearing in one package.
Diamond Mine-nut is most effective against zombie types that cluster around the breach point - exactly the scenario that maximizes the 3x3 detonation zone. Dense flag waves that funnel into a single column pile up against the wall and take full 500-damage blast when it collapses.
Strengths
2500 toughness provides a long-lasting defensive wall
Automatic 500-damage 3x3 detonation on breach punishes the breaching zombies
Wall and explosive functions combined into one tile
Mine-synergy trigger opens combo possibilities with other plants
175 Sun cost is reasonable for a dual-function plant
Weaknesses
Digger and aerial zombies bypass both functions entirely
Detonation happens only once at the end of the wall lifespan - not on demand
Cannot be triggered early - must wait for breach to detonate
Toughness decreases with each hit, reducing lifespan under sustained attack
Requires immediate replacement after detonation to maintain lane coverage
1 Place in column 1 or 2 so the 3x3 detonation covers the heaviest zombie cluster at the breach point
2 Use Aqua Aloe behind it to restore toughness and delay the detonation for more wall time
3 In Endless Mode, cycle Diamond Mine-nuts with fresh plants after each detonation to maintain coverage
4 Combine with Gloom-shroom in the adjacent tile to add area damage while the wall absorbs zombie pressure
5 Do not waste it in stages with heavy Digger Zombie presence - switch to Spikeweed instead
