Details
When any zombie bites Pearmafrost, it fires a 3x3 cryo shockwave dealing 20 damage, applying Chill, and inflicting 35 Cryo Points to all zombies in range. Cherry-type defensive plants within the blast receive 200 Toughness healing per activation. Cannot be fused.
Pearmafrost excels as a high-toughness defensive anchor that retaliates against every zombie bite with a cryo shockwave covering all 9 tiles in a 3x3 area. Its 4000 toughness ensures it triggers the shockwave many times before falling. Each shockwave deals 20 damage, applies Chill, and adds 35 Cryo Points pushing zombies toward a full freeze. The mechanic is especially powerful against Gargantuar variants that bite repeatedly, triggering a fresh shockwave each time. Unlike typical defenders, Pearmafrost actively punishes contact attackers and heals nearby cherry-type defensive plants for 200 toughness per shockwave. Place in column 1 or 2 and surround with cherry defenders to create a self-sustaining retaliatory front line. Combine with Coldsnap Bean or Icetip Lily to stack cryo points for faster freezes. The 150 Sun cost is very efficient for 4000 toughness plus the reactive cryo shockwave utility.
Best against melee biters including Gargantuar variants that trigger repeated shockwaves. Dense front-row clusters caught in the 3x3 area take simultaneous cryo damage and slow with each bite, rapidly freezing all nearby zombies.
Strengths
4000 toughness enables many shockwave activations before falling
3x3 cryo shockwave slows and damages all nearby zombies on every bite
35 Cryo Points per activation rapidly stacks toward full freeze
Cherry plant healing creates a self-sustaining front-line loop
150 Sun is extremely efficient for this combination of toughness and utility
Weaknesses
Reactive only - ranged attackers deal damage without triggering shockwave
Cannot be fused limiting upgrade paths
Ground targeting only leaves aerial zombies unaffected
7.5-second recharge is moderate for a premium defender
Requires cherry-type plants nearby to use the healing bonus
1 Place in column 1 or 2 to trigger shockwaves early when zombies first enter
2 Surround with cherry pumpkin or cherry armor plants to heal 200 toughness per shockwave
3 Pair with Coldsnap Bean for cryo stack doubling toward faster freezes
4 Use Imitater to field two copies in adjacent lanes for wider cryo shockwave coverage
5 Back with Tall-nut in the same column to extend the front-line survivability and trigger more shockwave cycles
